There are no specific entry requirements for this course; however, we recommend that you first complete ‘The Safe Use of Insulin’, ‘The Safe Use of Non-Insulin Therapies’ and ‘The Safe Management of Hypoglycaemia’.

After completing this training you will be able to:

  • Outline the medical considerations when preparing a woman with diabetes for pregnancy
  • Describe the main aspects of antenatal and postnatal care for a woman with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes mellitus
  • Discuss how you would screen for and treat gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM)
